Our Team

Our team of highly trained, experienced animal lovers is devoted to giving our patients the best care possible. We believe in treating every patient as if they were our own pet, and giving them the same loving attention and care. Our team includes:

• Dr. Tamra Walthall: Dr. Walthall is the principal veterinarian and owner of La Vega Veterinary Clinic. She is active in both her local and veterinary community and has served on the Board of Trustees for the La Vega ISD for 18 years. She was elected to Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) President in 2022.
• Dr. Michael J. Joyner: Dr. Joyner hails from New Castle, Indiana, and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Texas since 1984. He is a leader in veterinary continuing education and currently serves as the president of the North Central Veterinary Medical Association.
• Melody Berend: Melody is our practice manager and has been with La Vega Veterinary Clinic since 1999. She began working as a lead veterinary technician and was promoted to practice manager in 2011.
