Hartford Animal Clinic, conveniently located at 1305 West Water Street in Hartford City, is a full-service, mixed animal practice. Established over two decades ago, the clinic has built a reputation for providing exceptional veterinary care for pets and farm animals alike. In 2007, the clinic was purchased by Dr. Bryan Schmitz and his wife, Dr. Camela Schmitz, who have since continued to uphold the clinic's proud legacy of providing top-notch animal care.

In addition to our Hartford City location, we are proud to have expanded our services to the charming town of Farmland, where our state-of-the-art facility, Hartford Veterinary Services, is located on the corner of Main and Elm. Opened in 2013 by the Schmitz family, this full-service veterinary clinic offers the same exceptional care that our clients have come to expect from Hartford Animal Clinic. Our experienced team of veterinarians, led by Dr. Bryan Schmitz, provides a wide range of services for pets of all shapes and sizes, and we are committed to ensuring that your furry friend receives the care and attention they deserve.

Dr. Bryan Schmitz

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Bryan Schmitz grew up on his family's dairy farm in Darke County, Ohio, where he developed a passion for animal care and agriculture. He received his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1997 and went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the same institution in 2001. Dr. Schmitz has extensive experience in both large and small animal care, having practiced dairy production medicine in Napoleon, Ohio, before becoming a mixed animal practitioner in Hagerstown, Indiana. In 2007, he and his wife, Dr. Camela Schmitz, purchased Hartford Animal Clinic, and in 2013, they opened Hartford Veterinary Services. Dr. Schmitz and his family raise beef cattle and show pigs on their farm near Economy, Indiana.

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Camela Schmitz was raised on a dairy farm in eastern Ohio and learned the value of hard work and dedication from a young age. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in 1997 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 2001. Dr. Schmitz has spent her career dedicated to the care of small animals and has a special interest in dermatology and internal medicine. She enjoys working alongside her husband, Dr. Bryan Schmitz, at both Hartford Animal Clinic and Hartford Veterinary Services. In her free time, Dr. Schmitz enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.

Dr. Dustin Decker

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Dustin Decker joined Hartford Animal Clinic in 1997 after graduating from Purdue University's Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. He has a passion for the care of both small and large animals and enjoys working closely with clients to ensure the health and well-being of their beloved pets. Dr. Decker and his wife, a middle school teacher, are the proud parents of three amazing children and are actively involved in the local 4-H community. In his free time, Dr. Decker enjoys following Purdue sports and spending time with his family.
