Our History and Philosophy

At Long Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to be a locally owned mixed animal practice in Kearney, Missouri. Our mission is to provide top-quality care for our patients and comfort to our clients, knowing that their pet is receiving the best medical, surgical, and emergency care at an affordable rate.

Our story begins with Dr. Thomas Long, a veterinary pioneer who graduated from Western Veterinary College in 1905. Dr. Long practiced veterinary medicine for nearly sixty years, teaching at St. Joseph Veterinary College and inspiring his grandson, Dr. David Leighr, to follow in his footsteps.

In 2004, Dr. Leighr purchased Long Veterinary Clinic, bringing new technology, equipment, and ideas to the facility. Today, our clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and emergency services for small animals, as well as equine and bovine patients.

Our Services

Our three experienced groomers are available to provide a range of grooming services, including baths, cuts, and styling. We also offer a maintenance program for pets that need regular grooming. And with our boarding facilities, you can trust that your pet will be well-cared for while you're away.

Daycare and Boarding

U-Wash

Our U-Wash facility is designed to make caring for your pet's coat easy and convenient. With self-serve washing stations and expert advice from our trained staff, you can keep your pet clean and healthy.
