With over 75 years of experience in the New Orleans metropolitan area, we have grown into one of the largest and most respected animal hospital networks in Louisiana. Our mission is to provide compassionate and humane care for our patients in a state-of-the-art environment.
Our History
Originally named Metry Animal Hospital, our practice was founded by Dr. Tom Melius in 1946. In 1952, Metairie Small Animal Hospital was built at its present location at 101 Metairie Road. Over the years, we have evolved and grown to keep pace with the ever-increasing technology and medical advances. Today, we have 17 doctors and over 90 employees on staff, and operate six locations in Louisiana, including our Main Hospital, Freret Clinic, Lakeview Clinic, Kenner Clinic, Marigny Clinic, and West Esplanade Clinic.
Our Services
In addition to our complete medical, surgical, and emergency care facilities, we also offer a wide variety of non-medical pet care services. Our services range from wellness exams to surgical procedures, and everything in between. We provide comprehensive care for your pet 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our emergency care is available 24/7 at our main location. We also offer a pharmacy refill request service, client resources, and documents and forms for our clients' convenience.
