Treating your pets like our own, with compassion, care, and expertise
At Cobalt Veterinary Clinic, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for your pets. Our story began when our founders, Drs. Jon and Christine Gustavson, graduated from Oklahoma State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. They moved to Connecticut and worked at Portland Veterinary Hospital, where they had the opportunity to get to know you and your pets. Over the years, they fell in love with the community and decided to purchase the hospital in 2015 from Dr. Olson and Dr. Nunez. Today, as the owners of Portland Vet, they continue to strengthen their commitment to serve you, your pets, and the community.
Dr. Christine Gustavson was born in Long Beach, CA, but grew up in Arizona. She had numerous animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, cows, horses, chickens, and of course, dogs and cats. After earning a Zoology degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, she moved to Oklahoma to pursue her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. It was there that she met Dr. Jon. They moved to CT after graduation in 2002 to begin their career as small animal veterinarians. She enjoys surgery and all aspects of running a small town veterinary hospital, especially getting to know and helping those in her community. Dr. Christine and Dr. Jon have three kids, including a set of twins. She enjoys playing and watching sports, spending time with family, and spending time doing almost any outdoor activity. She also enjoys photography and designing and building things.
